Frank Pastore

A Tomb of a "Frank"
Frank Pastore: Tool or Fool?

I have been following the "career" of "Frank" Pastore for at least eight years. Most people in the greater L.A. area are unaware of how powerful this man actually is. His "ministry" circles the globe as he spreads his hate speech to the unwashed Bible thumping masses. (Of course, we cannot blame those masses as they were raised in a sad society.)

Pastore is worse than the average hate monger, because he is so "good" at his job. His lies are told in a rich baritone (shudder!) that seems to reach out and control the will. As one member of Saint Chads recently said, "One time, without knowing it, I tuned into Pastore and thought, 'Bush is not so bad.'" See? No one stopped Rush when he was starting. My goal is to expose Pastore before he reaches the "top."

Some have asked why I often put "Frank" in scare quotes. There is a great deal of confidential information here. However, I have reason to believe that Pastore is not who he claims to be. Is Frank frank when it comes to his identity? Without going into detail, let's put it this way: I have spent extensive time in Europe. There I have seen numerous graves. I am spiritual man. There are, after all, more things in heaven and earth. . . some of them undead. I shall say no more.

Intimate Portrait of Phyla
Why did you change your name? Are you married?

Long time followers of my career will have noticed that in the mid-nineties, I changed my name from Owens to Owen. This happened around the time of my marriage. My heart-mate, Phyla, did not like the name OwenS as it seemed to indicate possession. (As in, "This is Phyla, Owens' life partner.) At her request, I changed my name to Owen at our marriage. My hotmail account has not been changed in order to prevent confusion from the scores of friends who write each week. Of course, Phyla has no last name at all, being a plant.

Phyla and I had a good laugh when a caller to the Pastore radio show suggested I was a "clear homosexual." Not that there is anything wrong with that, but anyone who knows me, knows the dramatic story of my liberation of Phyla from a Walmart prison camp ("the Home and Garden Section"!). Even some of my progressive friends found our love strange at first, but knowing a plant as a person breaks those prejudices down. As one activist friend said at a pro-choice rally, "You have helped me see Phyla as a person with rights." We look forward to the day our marriage at St. Chad will be recognized by the state of California. The logic is simple: All Loving, Living Beings are People.

Burn X-Mas, Burn!
Put an X over X-mas!

The other major cause here at Saint Chad has been ending the holiday I shall only refer to as (the still offensive) X-mas. To quote Lora Wyndham-Thomas, the schools facilitator, "The notion of a fat, white man, with a beard no less, giving presents to 'good girls' is offensive in itself. Add the oppressive religious element and you have a time bomb." She is right. Religious people have a duty to oppose X-mas. Recently I had a chance to rap with a student at the school:

Me: And there is just no Xmas here.

Colleen: No Christmas?

Me: Can we not use the more neutral, though still offensive, Xmas?

Colleen: Don’t I have freedom of religion?

Me: Of course. Just not freedom to exclude. There are forms of your religious tradition that are freedom enhancing. Sadly, at this time in our history most of your religious tradition has been oppressive to others. The mere mention of It can be painfully excluding to others.

Colleen: It can?

Me: We have to exclude in order to include.

Colleen: Even Santa Claus?

Me: A white man who only gives presents to “good girls”? Your Xmas tree will have to go. The symbolism is disgusting.

Colleen: What?

Me: No more “carols.” Note the demeaning use of a female name for misogynistic songs. We do have a Winter Holiday.

Colleen: Oh joy.

Me: So the Xmas tree has to come down.

I am happy to report some progress with this student. She is in "helping sessions" even as I write.

This X-mas idea has particular impact on the youth of our culture. Each year the youth group of Saint Chad stages a "tree decoration and burning." The picture is of one liberated lad (yes, lad!) preparing to burn a tree. There is hope folks!
